Happy New Year!

Hello Friends!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We pray that this letter finds you and your family filled with the hope we have in Jesus.

At the end of a year filled with a lot of change, we wanted to give you an update on our family. As
you know from our last letter, we left our home and friends in México on July 4th . There were mixed emotions for the Wilson family as we watched the fireworks from the U.S. side of the border. We of course said goodbye to many wonderful friends. We grew so much closer to God during this chapter of our lives and saw Him at work in the lives of so many people there. We praise Him for that! It’s been a bittersweet season.

We also praise God for how He has been beside us through this time of adjustment to our lives here in Lilburn, GA after 4 years of living out of the country. The move back has included: finding the normal food & shelter (ie. Wilson fixer-upper house), doing major home renovations, slowly unpacking all our belongings from a 10x12 room, helping our boys adjust to a new school, finding ourselves in a ‘new life’ where we’re not known by many people and where we try to speak Spanish to everyone foreign-looking (which doesn’t work too well with someone from Romania), etc. God has continually been blessing & re-filling us with His hope amidst these changes.

Heather is slowly but surely settling into her new life here. Of course the queen of the castle continues to do a bang-up job keeping 3, no all 4 of us boys in line. However, there are some days where she thinks it’s a funny-farm… not a castle under renovation! She is also picking back up the reins of our Shaklee business, which her mom so graciously took care of for 4 years. As always she continues to impress her husband and everyone who’s watched the ‘Design On A Dime’ and ‘While You Were Out’ home remodel shows. She completely surprised Steve recently, while he was at a conference in Kenya, with her skills. She completely remodeled our master bedroom- including designing and making a leather headboard for under $25, sprucing up a garage sale armoir complete with new crown moulding, painting, the whole works! Heather definitely misses being involved in ministry in México, but is looking at ways she can get involved in the modern day abolitionist movement to help stop sex trafficking of children and women here in Atlanta. Please pray for guidance as she seeks God about how to get involved.

Ian is thriving in his new 2nd grade class and life here. He loves reading and writing. His last writing creation was, “Mr. Sillypants.” (Please write us if you’d like a copy. J Be for-warned—it is quite boyish.) He also continues to devour big “chapter books.” Tyler is always full of life too. He continues to amaze us with his musical abilities! He sang 2 songs for us at our annual family Christmas talent show and did a beautiful job. As a kindergartener he is slowly becoming interested in reading~ something that’s been a challenge. But he’s doing well with his reading lessons and is coming along! We love the boys’ school and are excited that we’re in such a diverse area of Atlanta! There are 40 nationalities represented in their school! However, we’re a little disappointed that they aren’t speaking Spanish as much as before and are losing some of this great gift. Little Matthew is growing up faster than we can believe. He has a delightful personality and lights up any room in which he is found. He’s talking a lot and works really hard to keep up with his brothers. He’ll be 2 in March!

Steve is enjoying the new job at the home-office of The Mission Society. He’s often asked what he does and tries to explain exactly what the roles of the Assistant Director of Field Ministry and International Mobilization are. Although he’s not come up with a short answer, the job includes working on a number of projects and events related to supporting missionaries on the field as well as supporting The Mission Society’s efforts to mobilize churches overseas to finish the Great Commission. All Heather knows is that he has been gone a little too much, traveling in places like Prague, Kenya and now Costa Rica from January 2-12, but Heather and Matthew are joining him from the 4th to the 12th! Unfortunately, this kind of ministry-related travel will now be severely limited at The Mission Society in these tough economic times. For this reason, we are leaving our support account open at the Mission Society. All support that comes into our account helps offset ministry costs at the home office. Hence, for those who are able to continue contributing, please know we are so humbled and grateful.

It is with extremely grateful hearts full of thanks and praise to our God and to you all that we write at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. We can’t sufficiently express our gratitude for all of you and for how you have walked in ministry together with us over the past 4+ years. Our lives and those of many others have been changed forever through your prayers and generosity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With love,
Steve
(For the whole Wilson Gang)

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us,
that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
