Ready for Action

Dear friends,

We write to you today with gratefulness for a wonderful time of vacation with our families in Colorado. We were granted our special permission to leave and were able to enjoy 3 weeks with family. Part of our time was spent with Steve's family in a beautiful condo looking up at the snow-capped Rocky Mountains in Breckenridge, Colorado. We also spent a weekend with my brother and his wife in Littleton, CO, and then spent about 10 days camping in the highest altitude township in the US- Leadville, CO. It was a wonderfully rejuvenating time, and we are so thankful for it!

We returned home on Sunday afternoon (just 5 days ago) and about 17 hours later, Steve left on a flight to Mexico City for a reunion of all those doing Community Health Evangelism in Mexico. He returns home today, and we are all excited! Meanwhile, I have been holding down the fort with our two little boys and three teenaged girls. We have the pleasure of having Patrice and Aubre Becker, 2 teenaged sisters from Stone Mountain, GA, here to serve with us for about 5 weeks. They arrived here on Wednesday and I've already put them to good work getting ready for some Kids' Clubs that we are beginning on Monday morning. :-) As a 17 yr. old, I came to Mexico on a mission trip, and it was a life-changing experience for me. God brought to life in my heart the reality of the people of the world and their need for Him. Please pray for these sweet girls- that their time here would be formative and impacting.

On Monday, we are beginning a Kids' Club right here in our cochera-- our garage. There are a couple of streets right near our house called las calles olvidadas-- the forgotten streets. They are aptly named, as they are surrounded by an upper middle class section of the city. Many of the children, moms, and dads have passed by our home looking for anything we can give them. The children usually would like a banana to eat. The moms are often looking for anything that wer're just not using anymore, or maybe an opportunity to sweep our garage for a little money. Many of the men walk around looking for a chance to wash a car, or do work around the house- anything for a little money. Though we can share bananas with children and share things we're no longer using with some of our friends from these streets, we want to have a greater impact on these streets. So- with that in mind, we are starting kids clubs for these children. Please pray that as we begin building deeper relationships with these children and families, many more would come to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ! We are really excited. :-)

Lots of love, Heather for all of us Wilsons
